Accessibility statement

Our commitment

We want anyone to be able to use this website, including people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or with motion and animation turned down.

That matters more than usual in our line of work. A fair number of the people who contact us are dealing with a property remotely, or are older, or are trying to sort out an electrical problem in a hurry. A site that only works one way is no use to them.

The standard we aim for

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium. It is the standard most commonly referenced in United States accessibility requirements.

We describe this as what we aim for rather than a certification. No automated tool can confirm full conformance, and we would rather tell you what we have actually done and hear about anything we have missed.

What we have built in

Specific measures in place across this site:

  • Text contrast checked against WCAG AA ratios for body text, headings, buttons and links, including text placed over photographs
  • Keyboard navigation throughout, with a visible amber focus outline on every link, button and form field so you can always see where you are
  • A skip link at the top of the page that jumps straight past the navigation to the main content
  • Descriptive alt text on every photograph, and decorative graphics hidden from screen readers rather than read aloud as noise
  • Labeled form fields, with errors announced in text rather than shown only as a color change
  • Reduced motion support — if your device is set to reduce motion, the scrolling review feed, image movement and transitions stop
  • Real headings in order, so a screen reader can navigate the page by structure instead of reading everything top to bottom
  • An expandable FAQ built with native browser controls, so it works with a keyboard and is readable whether open or closed
  • A text alternative to the map — every town on the service-area map is also a plain text link, so the map is never the only way to reach that information
  • Responsive layouts that reflow rather than requiring horizontal scrolling, and that hold up when text is enlarged

Known limitations

Being honest about the parts we do not fully control:

  • The Google review feed is supplied by a third party. Its markup is theirs rather than ours, and we cannot correct it directly.
  • The interactive map is built on a third-party mapping library. Panning and zooming a map is inherently difficult without a pointer, which is exactly why every town is also a text link beside it.
  • Photographs of completed work carry descriptive alt text, but a photograph of a wiring detail can only be summarised in words, not fully conveyed.

If any of these prevents you getting what you need, contact us and we will give you the information directly.

If something does not work

If part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, tell us. We would rather hear it than not.

Email tenmileelectricllc@gmail.com or call (970) 485-0114. It helps if you can say what page it was, what you were trying to do, and what device or assistive technology you were using — but tell us anyway even if you would rather not go into that detail.

We aim to reply within two business days. If something on the site is blocking you, we will give you the information or take the inquiry over the phone in the meantime rather than making you wait for a fix.

Getting help another way

Nothing on this website is the only route to us. You can always call or text (970) 485-0114 or email us, and we will take the details, answer questions and book work that way.

Ongoing work

Accessibility is not a job that finishes. We review the site as it changes, and when we add a page or a feature we check it rather than assuming. If a third-party tool we rely on turns out to be a barrier, we will look for a better one.

Tell us

Found a barrier?

If any part of this site is difficult for you to use, let us know and we will fix it — and get you what you needed in the meantime.
